The Toledo Children's House classrooms (ages 3 through kindergarten) at West Side Montessori are learning about kindness and helping others by collecting travel-sized toiletries to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. A representative of Ronald McDonald House will receive the 100 assembled toiletry bags at the Thanks and Giving Celebration and sing-a-long on Tuesday, Nov. 26, beginning at 10:45 a.m.
Each of the four Children’s House classrooms had a specific wish list comprised of 100 personal items that will benefit the families utilizing the services provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities. The items collected were: disposable razors and shaving cream cans; individual toothbrushes and toothpaste; individual shampoo and conditioner bottles; and combs or brushes and individual deodorants. In addition, each classroom will be donating a fleece blanket to a child at Toledo Children’s Hospital.
Once all the toiletries were collected by the classrooms, the West Side Montessori kindergarten students put their math skills to the test. The 800 items were divided into groups of four, which allows each classroom to prepare 25 bags containing each toiletry item collected.
