Extracurricular Activities

West Side Montessori is pleased to offer several options for extracurriculars. These classes are offered after school and are taught by West Side Montessori teachers and outside instructors. In general, each session will range from five to six weeks long.

Session 1

The first session of extracurricular classes will run for four weeks, beginning the week of October 1.

Open registration for Session 1 opens Tuesday, September 11, at noon, and continues through the end of the school day on Monday, September 17.

Late registration ($10 late fee) begins Tuesday, September 18. The registration window closes Friday, September 21 at noon. No registrations will be accepted after September 21. 

Online registration and payment information can be found in your parent portal account. The forms will be available through your family's account, allowing you to sign up electronically and then pay using your Discover, Mastercard, or Visa credit card or by e-check. The online registration allows for only one registration per student. You will not be able to add or change classes online once you register.

While we enjoy the games, we will also be stressing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and developing independence in sport.  All equipment is provided. Coach Phill has been teaching tennis in the NWO area for the last 10 years. He works as an assistant Varsity/JV coach for the St. John's Jesuit tennis team.  He is currently the director of 10 and under tennis at Shadow Valley Tennis and Fitness.

Movement with Molly is a first dance/movement class for toddlers.  The children will learn body awareness, how to follow directions, and how to work well with others.  This is a fun class full of dance, songs, and stories.

The Book of Numbers, Pt. 1 (6th-8th Level) Middle School Science Room $112.00
Tuesdays - 3:30-4:15 p.m. This class will explore the magic of numbers by combining fiction and math. More Less

Students will read and discuss Libellus de Numeros by Jim West.  They will create their own "Book of Numbers" by working with various math formulas such as volume, area, surface area, etc.  Session 1 (October) will cover the first half of the book and Session 2 (November), the second half. Each student will be provided his/her own copy of the book to keep.  Dawn Fenicle has been teaching middle school math and science for over 7 years. Her math teaching and tutoring experiences include general math, PreAlgebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2. She enjoys sharing her love of learning with students and finding the "magic" in numbers.

Yoga (1st-8th Level) Maple Room $52.00
Fridays - 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Students will develop concentration and confidence as they explore yoga through movement, breathing techniques, songs, stories, games, and art.  More Less

Sarah Duvall completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2014 through It's Yoga Toledo, and went on to earn her 50-hour Rocket certification in 2015.  She has taught yoga at West Side Montessori for four years.
