Extracurricular Activities

West Side Montessori is pleased to offer several options for extracurriculars. These classes are offered after school and are taught by West Side Montessori staff and outside instructors. Instructors set their own fee, class size, age range, and program content.  WSM adds a nominal fee to each class.

Sessions range from four to six weeks long.

Session 3

The third session of extracurricular classes will run for six weeks, beginning the week of February 11.

Registration for Session 3 opens Tuesday, January 22, at noon, and continues through noon on Friday, February 1.

Late registration ($10 late fee) begins Tuesday, January 29. The registration window closes Friday, February 1 at noon. No registrations will be accepted after February 1. 

Online registration and payment for students can be found on your parent portal account. The forms will be available through your family's account, allowing you to sign up electronically and then pay using your Discover, Mastercard, or Visa credit card or by e-check. The online registration allows for only one registration per student. You will not be able to add or change classes online once you register.

To register for adult classes at the Toledo campus, you can stop by the front desk for a paper form or fill out the online form.  When you are finished, submit your payment to the front desk by Friday, Feb. 1.

They will learn many techniques used to decorate cakes. Samantha Marvin works as a Little House assistant and has been decorating cakes for the last 11 years. She has been trained in the Wilton cake decorating method.

She is currently pursuing a degree at Owens in early education with a focus on preschool age development.  Margie loves teaching and being around kids and taking part in their growth and development.

In this class, you will create your design on the computer, prepare your wood, paint your sign, then finish with wood distressing techniques.  Amy Wagner is a Children's House teacher in the Poplar Room. She has been at West Side for almost ten years and teaching for a total of 19 years. In her spare time, Amy enjoys blessing people with beautiful wooden signs. She would love to share her hobby with all of you.

By the end of the session, you will leave with your very own masterpieces and with the skills to make many more. Leah Lorann is from Toledo but has traveled the world for many years. One thing she loved about living overseas were the vibrant colors and works of art. She uses embroidery as a way to make her very own works of art.

SUMO Bot (UE) Spanish Room $78.00

Kids are placed in small teams of 3-4 students to build and program a LEGO-based robot. They will "battle" to be the top bot at a tournament on Saturday, April 13 at Sylvania Northview High School. Tom Burnworth is the Director of Operations and Co-Founder at the Sylvania STEM Center (SSC) and Paige Sloma has volunteered at the SSC for the last three years.

They will learn many techniques used to decorate cakes. Samantha Marvin works as a Little House assistant and has been decorating cakes for the last 11 years. She has been trained in the Wilton cake decorating method.

Sarah Duvall completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2014 through It's Yoga Toledo, and went on to earn her 50-hour Rocket certification in 2015.  She has taught yoga at West Side Montessori for four years.

We will be whipping up delicious sweet and savory recipes to enjoy at the end of each class and creating a recipe book to take home at the end of the session. (Food allergies will be accommodated.)  Brianne is the Spanish teacher for Children’s House thru 4th level at the Toledo campus.  She loves to bake as much as she loves to travel.
