Alums Organize TEDx Event

West Side graduates are known for being leaders when they move on to high school and Layan Ridi (‘22) and Daivik Patel (‘21) are no exception. Both attend Maumee Valley Country Day School where Layan is a freshman and Daivik is a sophomore.
After Layan heard about the school’s history of student-led TEDx events, she decided that she wanted to bring the tradition back. She talked with other students earlier in the year, but things never got off the ground. Still highly motivated to make it happen, Layan reached out to her former West Side classmate about hosting a program before the end of the year and Daivik was on board.

Layan and Daivik did a lot of legwork to solicit and select speakers for the event, which will be held this Saturday. Ten students from five local high schools will give talks on a variety of subjects including another West Side alum, Elizabeth Treat (‘22). Liz’s talk is titled “Question Those Who Don’t Question Authority.”
