Alum Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Cooper Gensler ('20) recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Cooper began his scouting journey with Cub Scouts at West Side and continued on in BSA Troop 2 at Epworth United Methodist Church. To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, a Scout must meet the following criteria:
  • Have been active as a Life Scout for at least six months.
  • Have earned a minimum of 21 merit badges, including specific required ones.
  • Hold positions of leadership within their troop.
  • Complete a significant community service project. 
Cooper worked with the city of Oregon, transplanting willow and dogwood cuttings to help with erosion and create habitat in a newly created wetland area that will filter out phosphates before the stream water enters Lake Erie for his community service project.
