West Side Montessori, Toledo Campus, has an immediate opening for a part-time or full-time counselor.
Located on 37 acres of beautifully wooded property, West Side is approximately five miles from the Michigan border. We have served the Northwest Ohio community since 1975. West Side Montessori educates 400+ children 13 months to 8th grade. We are one of the largest private Montessori schools in the country and are accredited by the American Montessori Society.
In addition to the Montessori teaching philosophy and core curriculum, West Side students are fortunate to experience curriculums from specialized instructors that include:
Art (grades 1 - 8)
Music (kindergarten - 8th grade)
Technology/STEM (grades 1 - 8)
Physical Education (kindergarten - 8th grade)

This salaried position is full-time during the school year of August - June. West Side offers a summer camp program where faculty and staff may choose to work (full or part-time) during the summer months for additional pay.
Educational Requirements:
Master’s degree in school counseling
Experience working with children in kindergarten through 8th grade
Experience coordinating social skills and friendship groups
Classroom teaching experience preferred
Salary:
Based on experience and education, a salary range of PT (20 hrs. per week)—$20,500 to FT (30 hrs. per week)—$29,500 is offered. Yearly salary increases are given.

Responsibilities:
Work with students individually based upon teacher or parent recommendation on a short-term basis
Work with students in a small group setting to learn pro-social skills and strategies in dealing with issues of friendship, anger management, self-esteem, grief management, problem-solving skills, communication skills, or in changing family situations such as separation and divorce
Work with students in a whole classroom setting to help students gain knowledge that will aid to make good choices, manage stress and anger, gain self-control, learn friendship, cooperation, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, fairness, problem-solving, and citizenship skills
Work with teachers and/or parents for consultation purposes
Provide outside referrals, if necessary
Be available, within reason, for emergencies that may come up outside of scheduled days
